About Mari

My Mission

mari-pizarro1My mission is to make you feel yummy from head to toes. In other words, create the best version of you. I promise to be your guide. Regardless of your desire, whether you want to lose weight, boost energy levels, detox or improve your digestive system, I will honor your unique needs and hold you accountable for success.

I am an advocate of making manageable behavioral changes that can be maintained permanently. It won’t happen in one day and there will be ups and downs, but it will be rewarding and fun. Are you ready for change?”

I am Mari Carmen your detox mentor. If you want to know more about me, here is my story and background.

After a very successful and happy career of more than 20 years as a Human Resources leader and later as a Senior Director for a multi-national corporation, I decided to focus my strongest skills toward another form of leading—helping and nurturing people.

To begin this new endeavor, I became a full-time Health and Nutrition Coach. The seeming impossibility of conquering my own personal struggles with severe Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), migraines, unexplained vertigo and constant dizziness, chronic sciatic pain, and unmanageable stress drove me to make radical changes.

I started my health quest in 2006. It took serious research, lots of trial and error, additional formal education, trying new “scary” sports like Yoga, and an irreversible true commitment to a clean lifestyle. I was fed up; my ailments were getting in the way of enjoying life, family, vacations, and they even lowered my productivity at work. Now in 2014, I am pain free, I travel without medication, my body looks and feels great, I am never dizzy, I know how to manage my stress in a productive way, and my friends and family are also reaping the benefits. I believe I am still transforming—I see myself as a continuous improvement project. I can’t wait to continue this path—I’m loving it!!!

Ana Maria Ruano, PhD

Ana Maria Ruano was born in Spain at a time when it was difficult to go to college. She has worked since she was 14 years old but always kept her dream of going to college in her heart. After she moved to Puerto Rico, married, and raised three children, opportunity knocked at her door. A winning attitude and strong will was what she needed to complete her Master’s degree in Neuro-Psychology, a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, and three years later a Post Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology.

Ana Maria, now 71 years young, has been a leader in her field for the past 20 years. God has been her guide, and she is always grateful for having an opportunity to serve. She recently moved to the US and decided to become an American citizen (another long-awaited accomplishment).

Ana Maria’s philosophy is that human beings never stop learning. Our brains have the unique need to continuously acquire new information, and we have the opportunity to enrich our neurons, connect our dendrites, and enjoy new knowledge, patterns, behaviors, and habits.
